The KC550’s five-megapixel camera punches well above its price-range, but its other features and the quality of the camera itself reveal its mid-range tendencies.
With the latest edition to the Black Label range, LG rises above its fashion phone reputation, providing some solid features. At the time of release it was the slimmest 5 megapixel camera phone available and its blend of style and substance still proves popular, despite some qualms in both areas.
The Rokr E8 is a phone with very clear priorities. Geared thoroughly towards music it makes serious compromises on screen size and camera quality. Motorola’s innovative ‘Modeshift’ control panel also seems to sacrifice usability in favour of novelty.
Though its looks mirror Motorola stablemate the PEBL, the U9 offers some additional design features that have a real impact on usability. None of its features, however, live up to the promise of their packaging.
