Seldom has a handset been more eagerly anticipated. Heralded as the phone whose appearance would finally induce evangelical iPhoneys to acknowledge the existence of a higher deity, the Palm Pre was hyped inescapably to the heavens.
The iPhone 3G takes the peerless touch-screen usability of the original iPhone and adds several of the features that were conspicuously missing last year. Despite falling short in some areas and only matching the industry standard in others, most people remain seduced by the all-round iPhone experience.
Though no doubt a landmark in mobile telephony history, the G1 very much represents a work in progress for Google’s ambitions in this arena. Its fantastic Android operating system is held back by clunky hardware and an unimpressive feature set.
As every woman knows, when given the opportunity, boys just have to be boys.

In line with RIM’s habit of producing small families of handsets with minor variations, the Curve 8320 is identical to the Curve 8310, but with the latter’s GPS capability swapped for Wi-Fi connectivity.
