Having crashed the LG Renoir’s 8-megapixel touch-screen party and swiped its slimmest-8MP-ever crown, the Pixon has proceeded to impress reviewers with its photographic skills and slick interface. Like its LG nemesis though, some minor niggles prevent the Pixon scoring top marks.

Composite Score: 80

As the first touch-screen 8-megapixel camera–endowed phone, the Renoir has its share of fans, though the praise isn’t unanimous. With all the multimedia and connectivity options you could ask for, the Renoir is marred only by some interface imperfections, and then only in comparison to the iPhone.

Though no doubt a landmark in mobile telephony history, the G1 very much represents a work in progress for Google’s ambitions in this arena. Its fantastic Android operating system is held back by clunky hardware and an unimpressive feature set.

Composite Score: 93

The newest addition to the camphone enthusiasts’ darlings, theCyber-shot range, is Sony Ericsson's first foray into the brave new world of 8-megapixel cameras. But far from being a one-trick pony, the C905 offers all the features we’ve come to expect from a flagship handset.

As its full title suggests, the Nokia 6210 is something of a one-trick pony. Though its sat-nav capabilities are first-rate, it falls behind its Nokia stablemates as an all-round handset.

Composite Score: 87

For all its low-key exterior and modest features, the Nokia 6300 is a very popular phone. Ease-of-use, durability and superior battery life make it an excellent choice for those times when a phone is just a phone.

Composite Score: 79

The 6220 Classic holds some surprisingly high-end features in its no-frills plastic frame. Despite its name it finds more in common with Nokia’s Nseries than the old-school Classic range.

Composite Score: 70

As with the other handsets in its Classic range, the 6124 references traditional Nokia aesthetics in its appearance but houses 3G smart phone capabilities and mid-range multimedia features.

Composite Score: 73

Not to be confused with the fuller-featured and fuller-figured 6500 Slide, the Nokia 6500 Classic provides mid-range multimedia and 3G functions in a svelte and stylish package.

Composite Score: 82

Viewed next to its sibling the 6500 Classic, Nokia’s 6500 Slide would probably be considered the ‘clever one’, housing an impressive set of features for a mid-range handset.
